It returns the PRODUCT VERSION from the content file, but we defined (for 10.1) that it should return DISTPRODUCT DISTVERSION This is the reason for the "500 Internal Server Error" during the registration of Alpha4. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=205392 kkaempf@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- AssignedTo|kkaempf@novell.com |dmacvicar@novell.com ------- Comment #7 from kkaempf@novell.com 2006-10-13 11:51 MST ------- After talking to ro (autobuild), the following facts emerged: 1. autobuild does not prescribe any values. 2. 'content' is for libzypp (to define the 'product' resolvable) 3. suse_register (resp. NCC) needs the product identification (like openSUSE 10.2) 4. suse_register (resp. NCC) needs the product distribution (CD, DVD, ftp, ...) since they have different sets of packages (DVD distro has more packages than CD distro) So my comments (see comment #4 above) are wrong since registration added additional constraints which were not present in the past. We (ro and kkaempf) discussed how to fulfill the above (1. - 4.) listed requirements with minimal changes to the code (installation freeze): - 2. does not prescribe the name of the 'product' resolvable but only what the resolvable provides. E.g. all openSUSE-10.2 distributions (be it CD, DVD, ftp, ...) have to provide "product:opensuse = 10.2" - suse_register looks at the name of the product resolvable - ncc needs the distribution information (cd, dvd, ftp, ...) It looks like we can fulfill these requirement by a small change: - use DISTPRODUCT,DISTVERSION to create the product resolvable - have this resolvable provide PRODUCT = VERSION -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=205392 ma@novell.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|RESOLVED |REOPENED Resolution|FIXED | ------- Comment #10 from ma@novell.com 2006-10-19 13:03 MST ------- The fix is not appropriate. First of all because our DISTPRODUCT strings are not suitable to be used as a resolvable name. This fix as well reimplements bug #199951. 1. suse_register (resp. NCC) needs access to the DISTPRODUCT,DISTVERSION values: We will implement the missing accessor methods in zypp::Product. Values are currently provided by YAST sources. YUM does not provide these values, so they will be empty. Target store will be fixed to save and restore available DISTPRODUCT, DISTVERSION values. zmd backends query-pool binary will be adapted to output the DISTPRODUCT, DISTVERSION values. Michael Calmer will adapt suse_register to use them.
Duncan sugested to move query-pool to zypp (or provide some equivalent). That way suse_register will become independent from zmd-backend and depend on zypp only.
This will fix the registration, and we should be able to concentrate on fixing the remaining issues introduced by bug #199951 and the broken target store, without breaking registration again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
