[Bug 578606] New: cups remote server has wrong links to 127.0.0.1 always
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=578606 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=578606#c0 Summary: cups remote server has wrong links to 127.0.0.1 always Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Printing AssignedTo: jsmeix@novell.com ReportedBy: novell-web@zmi.at QAContact: jsmeix@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091222 SUSE/3.5.7-1.1.1 Firefox/3.5.7 ZarafaCheck/1.1.1.20080624.110 I have a cups server, when I access it via https://orion:631/printers/ it displays all printers. But *ALL* icons have a link like this: https://127.0.0.1:631/printers/hpprint?op=print-test-page That link needs to be https://orion:631/printers/hpprint?op=print-test-page instead. I found this bug report: http://www.cups.org/str.php?L3022 maybe that could fix it? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. access https://orion:631/printers/ 2. click on any link on any printer Actual Results: wrong 127.0.0.1 links Expected Results: should keep servers name in links. my cupsd.conf: ServerName orion.i.zmi.at # Show general information in error_log. From the L3022 bug I saw the mentioning of /etc/hosts, and there was
127.0.0.1 orion.i.zmi.at orion which I changed to 10.72.27.1 orion.i.zmi.at orion and did an "rcnscd restart" afterwards, followed by rccups restart. Obviously that wasn't enough, it must have been in the cache somewhere, because now it "suddenly" works without me doing any further changes. Could it be the /etc/hosts entry caused all this mess? And what would I need to do to makes changes there immediately work? So we can close this, sorry for the noise. :-( -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=578606 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=578606#c3 Johannes Meixner <jsmeix@novell.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution| |INVALID --- Comment #3 from Johannes Meixner <jsmeix@novell.com> 2010-02-10 13:59:32 UTC --- The IP 127.0.0.1 must have the name "localhost" (and vice versa). Anything different is wrong and can cause any kind of error. Therefore you should really have in /etc/hosts the entry 127.0.0.1 localhost Regarding "Printing" this bug report is invalid because it is no bug in the printing system but in your /etc/hosts file. An interesting question is what made the plain wrong entry 127.0.0.1 orion.i.zmi.at orion in your /etc/hosts file. If you didn't do it yourself, you may file a new separated bug report because such an entry can cause any kind of error. Regarding the delay until it worked: I am not at all a host name resolution expert but is there perhaps something like a name service cache daemon (nscd) running which might have caused the delay until the wrong entry in the nscd cache had timed out or something like this? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
