[Bug 1076839] New: [Build 20180117] installer startup: kexec failed
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1076839 Bug ID: 1076839 Summary: [Build 20180117] installer startup: kexec failed Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: i586 URL: https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/586185/modules/welco me/steps/4 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: dimstar@opensuse.org QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- ## Observation openQA test in scenario opensuse-Tumbleweed-NET-i586-install_only@32bit fails in [welcome](https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/586185/modules/welcome/steps/4) ## Reproducible Fails since (at least) Build [20180117](https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/585467) ## Expected result Last good: [20180116](https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/583935) (or more recent) ## Further details Always latest result in this scenario: [latest](https://openqa.opensuse.org/tests/latest?flavor=NET&machine=32bit&version=Tumbleweed&test=install_only&distri=opensuse&arch=i586) A local reproducer seems quite easy: download the NET ISO and try to start the installation (even by pointing it at download.o.o) On one of the consoles you can see the text 'kexec failed' This only happens on the i586 NET ISO, the x86_64 one works as expected -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Thanks, now it works with 'openSUSE-Tumbleweed-NET-i586-Snapshot20180320-Media.iso' on my old notebook (HP Compaq nx7300, Celeron).
But I'm not sure if following message should be shown at the beginning of the installation:
This is a different error - and has the switch to the new product builder as root cause. Please file a new bug to track it -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
