I don't think that samba-server could add some "default" shares if it wants (anytime you start samba-server) but these shares are there if you don't run the client, so samba-client must have removed them. To reproduce the bug, just install openSUSE 10.2 with a default KDE installation and run Yast samba client before Yast samba server.
