[Bug 280863] New: "Start Operating System" in K-Menu shows wrong current operating system
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=280863 Summary: "Start Operating System" in K-Menu shows wrong current operating system Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 4 Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: danielstefanmader@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de A wrong entry is marked as current in "Start Operating System" in the KDE K-Menu (SUSE Menu Style). My guess is, that it shows the default entry in the GRUB menu.lst regardless of what is actually running. I will attach a screenshot and the GRUB menu.lst -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Experiments show it is definitely simly the default boot entry in GRUB which is shown as current operating system. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=280863#c5 --- Comment #5 from Daniel Mader <danielstefanmader@web.de> 2007-07-03 10:15:05 MST --- Is this a KDE function and thus a KDE bug? Maybe reporting it to the KDE people is worth a try? This has worked in 10.2, I think... It's not overly painful but simply a bit unprofessional :) If it can't be fixed it should be removed, I'd say: no indication of the current OS. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I think it never worked - it always showed the default. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=280863#c7 --- Comment #7 from Daniel Mader <danielstefanmader@web.de> 2007-07-03 10:32:09 MST --- I'm not sure, to be honest :) But then even more so: let's get rid of it... Do you notice something: No serious glitches to be found in 10.3! It is already just about perfect! I'm using it a lot and it works like a charm, including NetworkManager and powermanagement on a Centrino laptop! This version is seriously going to rock! Keep up the great work! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Because current is -1 and is set to default in that case. For reasons pretty unknown to me - even though the svn log will claim I wrote the code ;) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
