[Bug 507646] New: NTP Server Access Control Options are Mostly Missing From Local Help
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=507646 Summary: NTP Server Access Control Options are Mostly Missing From Local Help Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Documentation AssignedTo: ke@novell.com ReportedBy: alpha096@virginbroadband.com.au QAContact: ke@novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042700 SUSE/3.0.10-1.1.1 Firefox/3.0.10 There are a variety of NTP Server Access Control Options When configuring a public NTP Server the only Access Control Options that are described are the default options only. Quote Access Control Options Define the access control flags (restrict directive in /etc/ntp.conf) for this server, indicating which types of actions the remote host can perform on your NTP daemon. By default, it is set to notrap nomodify noquery. This option is only available if you have checked the Restrict NTP Service to Configured Servers Only option in Security Setting UnQuote Unless the available size of online help is restricted I think it more than prudent to discuss 'most' of the Access Control Options here. Particularly when the default options only apply to a public server so configured by the use of 'Restrict NTP Service to Configured Servers Only' being turned on. I am not suggesting a full page of every Access Control Options, however I feel we can do so much better here. With Opensuse 11.0+ we can access HELP over the Net and obtain this from the Help Server. References to local help indicate the installed help files on the PC's Hard Drive. If you follow comment #1 you can clearly see its about the help content in a Yast>Network Services>NTP Server. As this is help in Yast - There is no need to ask about KDE or Gnome as all the help text in Yast is the same. The classification I feel is correct - your ball... -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It was closed by the reporter as WONTFIX DUE FACTS ALL CONTAINED here how apparent no resources were ever going to be allocated for solution. Suse needs 'A problem Manager, a Integrated Problem management Database and allocation of expected result along the line that leads to the bug being fixed.
