[Bug 1109044] New: spice-server package gives performance issues to Windows 10 KVM guests
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1109044 Bug ID: 1109044 Summary: spice-server package gives performance issues to Windows 10 KVM guests Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.3 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 42.3 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Virtualization:Other Assignee: virt-bugs@suse.de Reporter: piteccelaya@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Overview:
From the moment Windows finishes booting and prepares to load the login screen -the one with the hour before choosing a user-, it takes a minute or more to actually load the login screen, and when it does it takes more time to even become responsive.
Once logged in and desktop is done loading all its stuff, Windows guest always feels generally slow: programs or windows take time to be able to load -even if just the file manager-; some times they never even open. And if stressing the guest just a little more in order to do a bit of daily work such as opening web browser or a couple of MS Office documents, it just hangs and becomes unresponsive and broken. Most of time it's a matter of several seconds for VM to get back, but some few times VM does break for good and one has to force stop it. Steps to reproduce: Setup a Windows 10 KVM through virt-manager. Just for IDE Disk 1 (the hard disk) and NIC (network) options select virtio as device type or bus. MAke sure to use SPICE as console. Download spice-guest-tools from Spice Space website, copy it to Windows guest and install it. Request: A bugfix was committed and merged in latest spice-server release 0.14.1. Details: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/spice...f9687bb55c1e14 https://spice-space.org/download/releases/spice-server/ Wondering if it's possible to update current openSUSE spice-server package with 0.14.1's fixes. Or at least just the aforementioned fix regarding Win10 VMs. Hope both 42.3 and 15.0 could be included... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Could "submit" mean available through zypper update?
Not yet. It will take some time to work its way into the Leap 42.3 update channel.
If it's done, could it be advertised here, or better just somehow check for updates in zypper? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
