https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=828378 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=828378#c0 Summary: non functional number pad - functional only for one [initial] entry - did the same thing with opensuse 12.2 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: naggar@sprintmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:21.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/21.0 I upgraded my hardware [from 32 to 64 bits] when I went to opensuse 12.3 [64 bit]from 12.2 [32 bit]. Also went from a single to a six core amd cpu,and from a 250MB hd to a 2TB hd. As the problem occurred with opensuse 12.2 and again with the 12.3 version and totally different hardware I am assuming that the problem is most likely a kernel one but I have no real evidence except the deduction. It has surprised me that the problem was not corrected in the 12.3 version because it is an annoying problem as one's right hand does automatically fly to the number pad. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.I downloaded both the 12.2 [32] and 12.3 [64] versions and installed them 2.I can use the numpad to enter the numeric code for the pw then the numpad becomes inoperative. The number is different from 12.2 to 12.3 3.Rebooting will get the numpad functional for the initial entry only. Actual Results: The problem is very consistent with opensuse 12.3 - [I no longer use opensuse 12.2 and the older hardware]. I seem to remember that the problem did not occur at the initial 12.2 installation but I might be wrong. Happens every time the opensuse 12.3 system boots up. Expected Results: Unfortunately the problem does not go away and reappears every time the system is running. While the numpad problem is not crippling it is very annoying and I cannot understand why nobody else has not reported it. The problem might not occur in the kernel - could it be the use of grub2? The consistency of the problem in 12.3 has baffled me. I keep expecting the next upgrade to resolve the issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
