The Gnome display manager will hide some users by default from the greeter: "bin,root,daemon,adm,lp,sync,shutdown,halt,mail,news,uucp,operator, nobody,nobody4,noaccess,postgres,pvm,rpm,nfsnobody,pcap". Please try the following configuration change in /etc/gdm/custom.conf: (...) In the file /etc/lightdm/user.conf a i found followin comment: # NOTE: If you have AccountsService installed on your system, then LightDM will # use this instead and these settings will be ignored" After de-installation of accountsservice all user-names will be displayed in the login-menü!! I think accountsservice works not correctly ( testing names, but not user-ID's, real users-ID's starts by 1000 ).
