[Bug 608147] New: Selecting extended mail server configuration activates LDAP and NIS without asking
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=608147 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=608147#c0 Summary: Selecting extended mail server configuration activates LDAP and NIS without asking Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: tilman@imap.cc QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=363993) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=363993) YaST logs User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100317 SUSE/3.5.9-0.1.1 Firefox/3.5.9 The first screen of the YaST2 module "E-Mail Server Configuration" asks whether I want to do a "standard" or "extended" configuration. If I select "extended", it activates LDAP and NIS authentication without asking. This setting remains active even if I go back and select "standard" instead. The only way to get rid of that again seems to be: - for LDAP: go into YaST2 module "LDAP client" and change the "user authentication" setting from "use LDAP" to "don't use LDAP" - for NIS: edit /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow manually to remove the "+" lines appended by YaST2 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure mail server via YaST2 in type "standard". 2. Enter YaST2 module "E-Mail Server". 3. On the screen "E-Mail Server Configuration", select "extended" and click "Continue". 4. On the dialog "you don't have all required packages installed", click "install". (What else can I do?) 5. On the dialog "Your computer isn't configured as LDAP client", uncheck all options ("create certificates", "configure local LDAP server", "configure dedicated LDAP server") and click "Continue". (I don't want LDAP.) 6. On the message box "Error: cannot connect to LDAP server", click "Ok". (I don't care, I don't want LDAP anyway.) 7. On the dialog "Password for LDAP server", click "Cancel". (I still don't want LDAP.) Actual Results: YaST2 module closes without further ado, but the damage is done: - /etc/sysconfig/ldap, /etc/ldap.conf and /etc/openldap/ldap.conf are created. - /etc/nsswitch.conf has "ldap" appended to the group, services, netgroup, and alias lines. - /etc/passwd has been resorted alphabetically, instead of by UID as I prefer, and got a line "+::::::" appended. - /etc/shadow has been resorted alphabetically and got a line "+" appended. - /etc/pam.d/common-*-pc all got a line for pam_ldap.so added. Expected Results: As long as I don't click "Ok" on the final screen of a YaST2 module, and in particular if I abort it halfway, the system should remain unchanged. The LDAP settings can be reverted by starting the YaST2 module "LDAP client" and changing the "user authentication" setting from "use LDAP" to "don't use LDAP". The NIS lines appended to /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow however remain and must be removed by editing those files manually. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
