[Bug 668460] New: ignore trackpad when mouse plugged in option fails after suspend/resume
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=668460 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=668460#c0 Summary: ignore trackpad when mouse plugged in option fails after suspend/resume Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rcoe@wi.rr.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.10) Gecko/20100914 SUSE/3.6.10-0.3.1 Firefox/3.6.10 GTB7.1 I updated Kernel:HEAD and X11:XOrg for testing the fix of another bug. After the latest changes, Xorg no longer ignores the trackpad if a mouse is plugged in option after a suspend/resume. I use this option because the trackpad is useless/frustrating. If I have the trackpad active, it moves the mouse when I type, it enables scrolling, it won't move when I want it to, and does other undesired behaviour. Reproducible: Always Packages installed in latest update in Date order, most recent last, by build date. There isn't a generic facility to run commands after a resume.
Should this reasonably go to the synaptiks (KDE touchpad config UI shown in the screenshot attached) maintainer as a workaround? There is a signal from KDE's hardware layer that we just resumed that he could hook into to re-apply the user's configuration.
Yes, that would make sense as workaround.
Or is it an X or kernel bug that the touchpad was reinitialized after resume and should be handled there?
My guess is that it's a kernel issue, yes. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
