libcanberra is from the SLES codebase, the SLES maintainer needs to do it.
Good point - the community will often fall flat on their face by this. Let's see how well the process of bringing back community fixes into the SLE code base works! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

please dont assign to maintenace@opensuse.org, NEEDINFO us if needed.
NEEDINFO on the screening team is also not needed here
In general bugfixes are welcome always. Howver, Leap works differently.

I'm not sure we can split the package in SLE12 since the new package won't be pulled automatically and will cause a drop of feature.. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I did more tests on SLE12: - we didn't ship canberra-gtk-play on the media (which is a mistake), which means desktop login sounds was not working at all on SLE12 GA. As soon as we have the package installed, login sound will start to play again at login. - if we start to ship current canberra-gtk-play with maintenance update, we will end-up with login sounds enabled on new SLE12 installation (since canberra-gtk-play supplements gdm and gnome-session), which is probably something our customers won't like - If we do a similar package split as the one sent to TW, we won't have desktop login sound enabled, since supplements will be disabled. Therefore, I'm fine with integrating this maintenance fix on SLE12 and ship the two additional generated packages (canberra-gtk-play and canberra-gtk-play-gnome) on SLED12 and SLE-WE12 (no need for SLES12). Scott, could you handle the maintenance request for SLE12 please ? Thanks ! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

After talking with Dominique my understanding is that I only need to submit this to SUSE:SLE12:Update and an automated script will pick up this submission and forward it to leap. This will happen after SLE QA looks at this submission however I can mark the bug fixed now.
MR#80279
One interesting thing is that unlike leap, on SLE we do ship the novell-sound-theme which provides desktop-login.ogg. The comments in the tumbleweed submission are perhaps slightly misleading on SLE so I adjusted them.
Frederic - how do you want to handle adding the two additional packages to what we ship with SLE?
The two additional packages should be shipped with SLE12SP0/SP1 (maintenance team should handle that) but we won't change any dependency during SP1. We should revisit this for SP2. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
