[Bug 668173] New: [SMBTA] WebYast module to control smbtad
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=668173 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=668173#c0 Summary: [SMBTA] WebYast module to control smbtad Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: ASSIGNED Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Samba AssignedTo: bgeuken@novell.com ReportedBy: hhetter@novell.com QAContact: samba-maintainers@SuSE.de CC: hhetter@novell.com, mhaefner@novell.com, bbrunner@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- During hackweek Björn took a look at SMBTA and made first steps to create a webyast module to control smbtad, which would be a killer feature for sure. Lots of IRC communication has passed. This stuff is totally in development, and no timeline or anything similar can be given at the moment. I created this bug for us to track the status of that idea, and of course this bug will not be blocking any release tracker bug. Stored as "Enhancement". I would be happy if Björn would update the status of this development in this bug from time to time ! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Please check the bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Only things missing are some tests, the precision flag and some css to format the html output. And of cause fixing bugs;) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

( separate package, include in the smbtad repo, or include in the webyast module package? ) - the easiest way to test the module is to build it into the SMBTA Stresstest appliance, which is 11.3 based. Can this be done? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I haven't checked yet which packages are required by the module. I would expect it needs webyast rest-service and client, and probably the yast2 package, some rails packages and maybe more. If you are ok with that we can add it to the appliance. Otherwise I will create a new appliance after I fixed the remaining things and packaged the module. (In reply to comment #4)

I haven't thought about it yet. I doubt that including it in the webyast module package would be an option. Maybe we should put it into the smbtad repo. Unless the webyast module dependencies are an issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=668173 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=668173#c6 --- Comment #6 from Holger Hetterich <hhetter@novell.com> 2011-02-21 12:41:24 UTC --- I am fine with adding it to the SMBTA Stresstest appliance. In the ideal case it comes up fully working from startup. The big advantage is that this is a running environment with everything setup, so it'll be easy to fully test the module in it. Actually, including the webyast module in smbtad is my preferred way, as I am in doubt that the maintainers of the webyast modules would maintain that thing. It can easily be made optional in the build for non-SUSE-distros. We would need a chapter in the smbta-guide for it, with basic installation instructions, and where to find it prepackaged. Since not even on the SUSE Distro everyone will like to have to install the dependencies for the module, we should end up with a RPM build that creates a subpackage for the module. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
