[Bug 564320] New: Gnome-programs running under KDE have wrong file associations (default app for mimetype)
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=564320 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=564320#c0 Summary: Gnome-programs running under KDE have wrong file associations (default app for mimetype) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: markus.webmail@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=332350) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=332350) Patch file for SuSEconfig.glib2 and /etc/gnome_defaults.conf User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.1.4) Gecko/20091017 SeaMonkey/2.0 Opening a PDF file from seamonkey starts GIMP because it is the default app for mimetype application/pdf. It should start a more suitable program like okular. Gnomes settings can be shown with ~> gnomevfs-info Test.pdf Name : Test.pdf Type : Regular MIME type : application/pdf Default app : gimp.desktop .. Gnome takes its info from /usr/share/applications/defaults.list which is a symlink to /var/cache/gio-2.0/defaults.list. This file is created / updated from /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.glib2. I have found SuSEconfig.glib2 ignores desktop-files belonging to KDE. So I have modified a few lines in this scipt. In order to set okular as preferred application some additional lines in /etc/gnome_defaults.conf are neccesary. See attached patch file. After applying the patch and rerun SuSEconfig.glib2 Gnome shows the expected default app: ~> gnomevfs-info Test.pdf Name : Test.pdf Type : Regular MIME type : application/pdf Default app : kde4-okularApplication_pdf.desktop .. Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Not likely, you have already upgraded to newer versions of openSUSE, which had a lot more bug fixes. We believe that this specific bug has been fixed during one of the release cycles; as such, I close the bug as 'FIXED'. Should you be able to reproduce this issue on a newer openSUSE version, please feel to report it again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
