fresh install: try to add a openvpn connection but all entries are disabled
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce: 1. open gnome-control-center 2. open network 3. dismiss incompatible network service
** here you likely receive the message that the system managing the network is NOT compatible with what GNOME expects. GNOME can only interact with NetworkMAnager. If you get this message, you're likely running wicked.
4. click [+] to add a connection 5. select VPN 6. select OpenVPN 7. Dialog open but all disabled
Not surprisingly, this won't work. After all, GNOME did inform you the network service was not compatible; how could it possibly manage it? As Bernhard mentioned, you have to switch the Network Management Service to be NetworkManager inside yast. Please attempt this and report back how this goes. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

No, I am doing it on an Desktop PC, and I know that I have to switch to nm but the global options from yast2 lan offerd only wicked and disabled. In my virtual test machine (at home now) I can select nm and also configure openvpn. I have to test it on the real machine tomorrow (at work). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

OK, I notice this and ignore it. Bad! Perhaps the warning can be adjusted?

http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=904089 --- Comment #7 from Mario Goppold <mgoppold@web.de> --- Hi, it is not a bug, but classic misuse. I overlooked the fact that above the selected menu item "Wicked-service" the entry "Network Manager Service" is possible to choose. I think one reason is that the background dialogcolor and menucolor are the same (see picture Dialog Screens). As long as the selected menu entry is also the first in the list and the menu is only dropped down, everything is ok. It is better done in routing dialog, where the menu goes as expected (see picture Dialog Screens 2) Perhaps the Usebility team can take a look at this ..., but this can close here. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
