https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=451028 Summary: intel video drivers: no 3D acceleration on GMA 3100 chipset, Compiz crashed on GMA 4500, X3100 Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: RC 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: christian.jaeger@rub.de QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- On my PC (http://www.webdatenblatt.de/cds/de/?pid=b1u8i3lt1742045) with Intel GMA 3100 graphics (without the 'X') I don't get any 3D acceleration at all! And on a friends PC (http://www.webdatenblatt.de/cds/de/?pid=b1u8i3lt1946982) with Intel's newer GMA chipset (GMA 4500) the system freezes hard when certain Compiz effects are triggered. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

First (and this appears to be more annoying than fatal to drm), I have on boot: [drm] Initialized drm 1.1.0 20060810 [drm] Initialized i915 1.6.0 20060119 on minor 0 [drm:i915_getparam] *ERROR* Unknown parameter 5 [drm:i915_getparam] *ERROR* Unknown parameter 5 The more serious issue is when running glxinfo (with debugging), I get the following fatal error: libGL: XF86DRIGetClientDriverName: 1.9.0 i965 (screen 0) libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/dri/i965_dri.so libGL error: dlopen /usr/lib/dri/i965_dri.so failed (/usr/lib/dri/i965_dri.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32) libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib64/dri/i965_dri.so libGL error: __driCreateNewScreen_20050727 not defined in i965_dri.so! Your driver may be too old for this libGL. libGL error: unable to load driver: i965_dri.so I was thinking of trying to install my old libdrm and openmesa packages from OpenSuse 10.3, but don't want to go through a lot of effort for something that might be wiped out in my next update -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I don't see how things change since I traced the reason for no 3D acceleration to DRM/DRI/Mesa. I had experienced crashing on compiz too, but found the fix separately. If you insist, I'll open a separate bug report for whatever reason you choose -- but I do not have 3D acceleration with my Intel Graphics card (Toshiba Satellite). My OpenGL apps (VariCAD and VTK) are handicapped, but everything works fine with OpenSuse 10.3. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
