I've tried both on my test machine (i586) and desktop (x86_84) and I see no difference between barrier=0 and vanilla results. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Thanks. I also didn't see any difference on lapbox.suse.cz which is some 2 CPU x86_64 Intel machine with 2GB ram, linear disk throughput ~30MB/s and that seems fairly comparable to what you write. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Also please boot the kernel with cgroup_disable=memory. Cgroups is one of the differences between -default config -vanilla config and they have significant impact on performance in some benchmarks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Thanks. BTW: Any ETA when you could get to running the test (or I can run it myself if you give me access to the machine)? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Great to hear that you see the same results as me :). It's a bit strange that remounting without barriers doesn't work for you. I can remount my root filesystem like "mount -o remount,barrier=0 /" just fine (and /proc/mounts is changed accordingly). Anyway, I'm closing the bug (as INVALID since in the end this is expected behavior). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
