and why does gnome-session know about my Firefox urls?
It doesn't; it's just that gnome-session in essence is 'stdout/stderr' capture for all things started through the shell and thus results in capturing those errors. If you start firefox from within a terminal, you should likely see the same error messages. If so: then this would be Firefox spitting them (most logical one).
