FFADO hasn't changed since November 2010. Jack dbus interface is new in 12.1 it was added at the beginning of September 2011 other than that nothing has changed in jack for a while. Try installing jack-1.9.7-137.1 please Sid, let me know if it doesn't pull in libjack0 with the same release and update libjack0 manually, from : http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/plater/openSUSE_12.1 It should be published in a few hours with a bit of luck. I'm in the unfortunate position of not being able to attempt to duplicate the problem due to internet problems, I'm using a nokia e66 atm and bandwidth is expensive as a result I'm still running 11.4. If you still experience the problem I'll see if upstream can help. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=736115 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=736115#c6 --- Comment #6 from Dave Plater <davejplater@gmail.com> 2011-12-15 12:49:59 UTC --- You need the matching libjack0. I've just checked and 12.1 x86_64 is published and the jack rpm requires libjack0-version-release so installing release 137 jack will pull in the correct libjack0. If you wanted the i586 derivative the 12.1 build server keeps hanging, I've just kicked it again. Use "zypper -v in --from <reponame> jack libjack-devel" and if the bug is still around in the non dbus jack also install jack-debugsource, jack-debuginfo, libjack0-debuginfo, ffado-debugsource, ffado-debuginfo and libffado2-debuginfo along with the binary rpms After refreshing the plater repo paste this as one line to the cli : zypper -v in --from platerreponame jack libjack-devel jack-debugsource jack-debuginfo libjack0-debuginfo ffado ffado-debugsource ffado-debuginfo libffado2-debuginfo Check that all of the version and release numbers match in the debugsource and info packages ie. all jack related rpms and debug rpms should be 1.9.7-137.1 and the ffado ones 2.0.1-74.1. The last digit of the release isn't that important, it's a rebuild without change counter but the major release counts the rebuilds triggered by source change. Release 136 has dbus and 137 hasn't. This is why usually require version-release if I can but it's not a common practise and it is even frowned upon due to triggering excessive package installation. Then if you can give me a good "gdb qjackctl" backtrace (don't use plater qjackctl, it's got no debug rpms) maybe I can track the problem myself. Note: If the bug goes away with non dbus jack don't install the debug rpms they're very difficult to get rid of and they don't always update with their packages, causing debugging headaches in the future. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=736115 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=736115#c12 --- Comment #12 from Dave Plater <davejplater@gmail.com> 2011-12-16 00:32:44 UTC --- My home project is a bit untidy atm, the pulseaudio package is left over from a bug I had in firefox and thunderbird a while ago. I've deleted it. There are a couple of other possibly unclean packages so don't install anything else. Am I mistaken or has the bug disappeared with libffado2-2.0.1-74.1? It was still there after non dbus jack was installed. Can you tell me your libraw1394 version-release, "rpm -qi libraw1394" gives the best info, I also need your libiec61883 version-release. It's looking more and more like the bug is the result of something installed that was built against something that you have a different build of installed. This is something that shouldn't happen so if this is the case the it needs to be prevented. Of course if it's something you built locally you may have to make your own version of a few of it's dependants. This is a case where using the build service comes in handy. Do you have a firewire port on your pc? Lastly can you list anything, like your kernel for instance, that either comes from a non standard repo or you have rebuilt locally with different options. This extends to kde and gnome flavours (they have reconfigured linked libraries in Gnome:Factory and KDE:Distro:Factory) and reconfigured rebuilt kernels, you can post the .config if you altered the kernel. Packman is using libs linked to multimedia:libs nowadays but there still might be an unlinked one lurking around. I don't know much about tumbleweed yet. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

As mentioned in comment 1, this is an issue of FFADO, not about JACK.
It looks like a nasty linker issue. See RedHat bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=684392
I backported their fix to OBS home:tiwai:branches:multimedia:libs/ffado. Give it a try. I've looked through http://subversion.ffado.org/ticket/329 and am in favour of updating ffado to at least r1999 but I'm rapidly running out of bandwidth. It seems that there are a few more potential ffado bugs related to the destructor, waiting to happen but I leave the decision to you. I'll get back to this bug as soon as I'm able.

Currently this library is used by the 'firewire' backends of the jack audio connection kit sound server. This backend provides audio and midi support, and is available in jackd. Access to the device internal configuration (e,g, internal mixer) is exposed using the ffado-dbus-server daemon. This daemon exposes the configurable parameters of all detected devices through DBUS. The ffadomixer application in support/mixer presents a GUI to control these parameters (only for officially supported devices).
