[Bug 1170243] New: Featherpad should claim .txt files
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1170243 Bug ID: 1170243 Summary: Featherpad should claim .txt files Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: LXQt Assignee: mvetter@suse.com Reporter: axel.braun@gmx.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Having LXQT with LibreOffice installed. After installing Featherpad, Text files are still being opened with Libreoffice, which is kinda overkill. Featherpad should become the default for text files (guess that needs to be fixed in the .desktop file?) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I guess you are aware that you can set the default file opener in lxqt-config yourself?
(guess that needs to be fixed in the .desktop file?)
If that is the case, I think this is not an openSUSE issue. Rather one that should get reported upstream: https://github.com/tsujan/FeatherPad -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://github.com/tsujan/FeatherPad/blob/master/featherpad/data/featherpad.... An application does not define itself to be the *default* via it's own .desktop file. That is up to the desktop environment, and the user's preferences. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

An application does not define itself to be the *default* via it's own .desktop file. That is up to the desktop environment, and the user's preferences.
So is it a 'first come, first serve' approach then? Why do I see suddenly changes in the default app? e.g., in TW .py files were opened with kate, suddenly with an application called IDLE3. I did not change this... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
