After some investigations find that problems is in ips module - this server had ibm serveraid-7k controller. Without serveraid everything works. I tried v firmware version for serveraid - 7.10.20 and 7.12.12. With 7.10.20 system boot from cd, when ips module is loaded on 4th console got: scsi scan:INQUIRY result too short(5), using 36 scsi 2:0:15:0: Direct-Access ips 0000:08:0e.0: Reset Request - Flushed Cache ips 0000:08:0e.0: Reset Request - Flushed Cache ips 0000:08:0e.0: Reset Request - Flushed Cache ips 0000:08:0e.0: Reset Request - Flushed Cache .. then installation continue and can be finished, afted first reboot got: ips 0000:08:0e.0: Reset Request - Flushed Cache ..some times.... sd 2:0:15:0 [sdb] READ CAPACITY failed sd 2:0:15:0 [sdb] Result: hostbyte=DID_TIME_OUT driverbyte=DRIVER_OK, SUGGEST_OK sd 2:0:15:0 [sdb] Sense not available sd 2:0:15:0 [sdb] Assuming Write Enabled sd 2:0:15:0 [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through sd 2:0:15:0 [sdb] Attached SCSI disk can't find root, exit to shell but actualy there was configured just one disk in controller with firmware 7.12.12 got on 4th console: Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer .... and Call Trace -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

we seem to have the same Problem with USB and/or IBM IPS driver we have problems in installing opensuse 10.3 x86_64 on IBM xSeries 226 serversystems (model 8488). This system has a IBM ServeRAID 6i controller. We tried almost any combination of bootoptions to make this work, at no avail. Installation of opensuse 10.1 and 10.2 is no problem at all. Even pulling keyboard and mouse from the usb-ports and replacing with PS/2 version did not make any difference. What has changed in the usb-module that differs from 10.2 ? This is plain vanilla booting from internal DVD, no usb drives involved.
No problems on IBM x100 (no RAID), IBM x3250 (no RAID), IBM x3250 M2(internal LSI-RAID controller), IBM x3550 (ServeRAID 8K).
Shall I test with 11.0 Beta 1 (x86_64) ?
100% RAID problem. I have no problem with serveraid-8k, too. Try 11.0 as far as i see raid driver works. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
