[Bug 252368] New: SAX2 sets screen resolution to 1280x1024 even though I selected 1600x1200
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=252368 Summary: SAX2 sets screen resolution to 1280x1024 even though I selected 1600x1200 Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Xgl AssignedTo: dreveman@novell.com ReportedBy: kelvin@zft.co.uk QAContact: bperry@novell.com I have an Intel graphics chip on my motherboard. lspci says: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) SAX2 allows me to set a resolution of 1600x1200 (for my Iiyama LCD monitor) but the resolution actually set is 1280x1024. 3D graphics and desktop effects work just fine. Sad to say, Microsoft Vista automatically sets 1600x1200 on this same hardware! I'd include the Xgl.0.log file if I could figure out how to upload it to you. Email me if it would help. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

You probably need to make use of 915resolution. Could you try the following? Edit /etc/sysconfig/videobios to use the following settings VIDEOBIOS_PATCH="yes" VIDEOBIOS_PARAMETERS="3c 1600 1200" Reboot your machine. Does this fix the issue? https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=252368 ------- Comment #4 from kelvin@zft.co.uk 2007-03-08 04:44 MST ------- This is a PC with an Aopen "Modt" "i945GTt-VFA" motherboard (Intel 945GT + ICH7MDH chipset). It is connected to an Iiyama diaplay. I added the data to videobios and confirm that it runs at boot showing "OK". The change had no effect on the video resolutions offered by the OpenSuSE 10.2 control panel Screen Resolution conrtol (1280 max). The refresh rate offered also shows as 75Hz even though this is an LCD display attached via a DVI connector. The Yast SAX2 control still lets me set up 1600x1200, but at the test screen shows 1280x1024 and that's what I end up with. I tried several settings over 1280x1024 and various colour depths and had no success. The only effect of the videobios change seems to be when gdm starts. The screen blanks and a multicolored bar appears across the bottom +/- 5% of the screen. Before the change this as a simple bar; after the change the bar was shortened. So there was an effect, but SAX2 cannot seem to take advantage of this. Thanks for your help so far! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
