[Bug 223745] New: 915resolution not set after upgrade to RC1
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223745 Summary: 915resolution not set after upgrade to RC1 Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: RC 1 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: SaX2 AssignedTo: ms@novell.com ReportedBy: swesemeyer@hotmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de I upgraded my laptop from Beta2 to RC1 and discovered that my resolution changed from 1280x800 to 1024x768. I then found that it couldn't change it via SaX2 to the higher resolution, either. Sax2 said it was set to 1280x800 (24bit) but as soon as I tested the resolution the test screen would always be 1027x768. After some investigation it appeared that even though the 915resolution utility was installed, it was not called anymore to fix the missing resolution setting. I had to manually edit the /etc/sysconfig/videobios file and set VIDEOBIOS_PARAMETERS="38 1280 800 24". Once I set this, I got back to the higher resolution. My hardware is a Gateway MX6923b laptop with an Intel T2500 dual-core processor, 2GB RAM and Intel 945GM graphics chip set. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Unfortunately with 10.2 I've had to add 95resolution 5c 1280 800 32 to make things work. Given that this worked before, I'm less than impressed with the new release so far. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Maybe completely unimportant but don't blame on me, blame on the laptop guys, they said bios patching is only needed for a small amount of devices which is apparently wrong. The reason for chaning this feature into a black list was based on this information and a bug which prevents X from working because _of_ the bios patch. I'm again only the stupid idiot who has to suffer the consequences of bad investigations. I promise something like this will never happen again I'm sorry for the inconvenience -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
