I see this entry in syslog: <1.5> 2013-03-02 12:40:02 Minas-Anor dns-resolver - - - ATTENTION: You have modified /etc/resolv.conf. Leaving it untouched.. . <1.5> 2013-03-02 12:40:02 Minas-Anor dns-resolver - - - You can find my version in /etc/resolv.conf.netconfig <3.7> 2013-03-02 12:40:02 Minas-Anor dhcpcd-hook - - - ATTENTION: You have modified /etc/resolv.conf. In fact, both files are equal: Minas-Anor:~ # cmp /etc/resolv.conf* Minas-Anor:~ # This may be related to the known problems that yast has in RC2 configuring the network. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

However it has nothing to do with YaST. None of messages from Description is generated by YaST. Moreover even 'touching' or 'netconfig --update' actions are enough to get the system into this state. The description is vague and 12.3 is out of support -> closing -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The description is vague and 12.3 is out of support -> closing
The description is what appeared in the logs. If it is not YaST, then it is something else, so please send the bug forward to the appropriate team for analysis. Or close it as wontfix because if they need more data it can not be obtained, the machine has been reformatted after this long time of no activity. But 12.3 is certainly supported till Sep 15th 2014, please check your facts. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I live in 13.2 already. Anyway, YaST never touches /etc/resolv.conf directly.
From the description it is not obvious if it was freshly installed system or not.
I've tried installation of 12.3 (Final) and it worked for me just after the installation. @Marius: do you have any opinion? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=807401 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=807401#c6 --- Comment #6 from Carlos Robinson <carlos.e.r@opensuse.org> 2013-12-16 22:02:43 UTC --- In any case, please consider that I can no longer provide further info than what I originally posted, too much time has passed. The machine where this happened was recently formatted for 13.1 RC testing, I only have a backup of the logs. Yes, it was a freshly installed system. And the issue might have been solved on the final release, or by a later update, or it might be related to the issue that was mentioned on the release notes about non functional networking. I simply don't know. Frankly, I would close the issue, but just not because 12.3 is not supported ;-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=807401 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=807401#c7 Marius Tomaschewski <mt@suse.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|REOPENED |RESOLVED Resolution| |WORKSFORME --- Comment #7 from Marius Tomaschewski <mt@suse.com> 2014-01-09 15:37:36 UTC --- When something [=bug in something then, not in netconfig] or somebody modified the file and netconfig considers it as such, you have several options: - use "netconfig update -f" to force the netconfig settings update - disable netconfig by setting the policy to "" (or empty module list) and configure manually as you like to have the file. I can't see what "cmp /etc/resolv.conf*" compares (modified with modified?), but md5sum used in netconfig says it is not equal. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
