Created logs with "save_y2logs /tmp/y2logs.tgz" straight afterwards. - Originally this is a notebook with Vista preinstalled - in September 2008 I first did a openSUSE installation with resizing the Windows partition. Something went wrong, so I reinstalled Vista from the Recovery DVD. This gave me a partition layout with WinRE as first partition, C: as second and D: as third, all primary partitions. - next attempt was installing some 11.1 Alpha or Beta. This was successful: D: was deleted, sda3 was created as swap and sda4 as root. Grub installation with chainloading the Windows boot was successful, too. - then I learned my computer needs nohz=off highres=off boot parameters to work - I changed menu.lst manually but learned I have to do this in YaST preventing these changes being overridden by mkinitrd/perl-bootloader on kernel update. I think I did this with 11.1 final. - As far as I remember this was the last call to yast bootloader until now (last reason was trying to get a working menu.lst with appearing of #533766). - Since this 11.1 Alpha/Beta I upgraded to final 11.1 / 11.2 Factory / 11.2 Milestones on a almost daily basis with zypper dup or yast2 sw_single/Update all packages. - AND: I never did any changes to udev! So far the history. Partition ID 0x27 seems to be unknown: fdisk -l shows: Disk /dev/sda: 320.1 GB, 320072933376 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Disk identifier: 0x560e8845 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 1 1176 9437184 27 Unknown /dev/sda2 1176 26247 201388032 7 HPFS/NTFS /dev/sda3 26248 26770 4200997+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris /dev/sda4 * 26771 38913 97538647+ 83 Linux but the recognition of sda1 as WinRE must be done on the first succesful installation of 11.1 (see above).
