I changed it to the "multi-user" target, planning to use "startx" to start X. After the reboot, when I logged in with my (non-root) account and ran "startx", it failed and suggested that I edit "/etc/permissions.local" However, editing "/etc/permissions.local" had no effect. Googling suggested to me that editing "/etc/permissions.local" is no longer the correct way to fix this problem, and led me to the successful solution of "chmod u+s /usr/bin/Xorg" So, if my understanding is correct, I would suggest that the startx error message be updated to not recommend editing "/etc/permissions.local", and replace that suggestion with something else (perhaps "chmod u+s /usr/bin/Xorg") Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
