[Bug 780833] New: Unable to enter password for encrypted swap file on boot: boot stalls
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=780833 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=780833#c0 Summary: Unable to enter password for encrypted swap file on boot: boot stalls Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: tony.pott@ntlworld.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:14.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/14.0.1 I upgraded my system from 12.1. It had an encrypted swap partition. After upgrade the nice boot dialogue asked for my password immediately(US k/b only at this stage): appears not to have loaded the drivers for a cordless usb k/b either. Can't enter password, doesn't time out and just attempt to boot and mount the swap later (perhaps when it used to do at the same time as the other encrypted partitions??). Stuck. There's probably a workaround available using the install disk as a rescue disk, but attempting to google a solution on a small smartphone screen left me wanting to eat my own liver. Ended up doing a fresh install. k/b = logitech 'internet 1500 cordless' Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Upgrade from 12.1 with encryped swap file 2. Boot Actual Results: Stuck on boot dialogue 'enter password for <swap partition>'. Will not accept k/b input Expected Results: I'd really have like to enter a password and continue booting. Doesn't seem too much to hope for really. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Huge improvement on dropping in and out of the text console. Perhaps just a little later in the boot process? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
