Despite that all packages are already in different repo's, etc, the maintenance workflow can not be used based on those packages as that it then requires package by package. I am sorry, but I guess that we will remain with the old procedures, where the user has to manually add the KDE:Release:410 repository to get updates for the KDE release within openSUSE 12.3. Any other solution might offer just a slight advantage for the end-user, but creates a huge overload on the KDE team. Unless OSC maintenancerequest is updated in such a way that it can utilize the parameters source project target project release (e.g. osc mr -m "update to 4.10.1" KDE:Release:410 openSUSE_12.3 ), this will just remain a dream -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

You can submit single packages, also against openSUSE:12.3:Update and osc will rewrite the submit into a maitnenancerequest automatically. We can _merge_ this after the submission into one maintenance incident. This will generate quite an amount of incidents to merge, but it woudl be possible. Nethertheless, the branding package interactions might be difficult to handle. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=810894 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=810894#c3 --- Comment #3 from Raymond Wooninck <tittiatcoke@gmail.com> 2013-03-24 11:52:36 UTC --- Marcus, We are talking here about an update existing out of 143 separate packages, which needs to be combined and none of them should escape. This include the branding packages (kdebase4-session and kdebase4-openSUSE). For me it would be a matter of a couple of minutes to create 143 maintenance requests (through a script), but I wonder if 143 maintenance requests would be something that the Maintenance team would be willing to handle and combine them in a single update for the end-users. I believe this would also be one of the first updates of this magnitude. Based on these experiences we might want to adjust certain things within specific packages to make it easier and less error prone. E.g. not requiring the exact version 4.10.1, but more to accept versions between 4.10.0 and 4.10.6 (4.10.5 is the highest that KDE upstream will ever release for the 4.10.x series). I could have dropped an email, but I believe that this might also be important to other teams so have the communications tracked through bugzilla is beneficial. Let me know if the maintenance team is willing to handle the 143 requests and to merge them into a single update. If so, then I will submit them. I didn't actually used the `osc ls KDE:Release:410`, but I used something similar to get the packages from a text file. At this moment I have generated MaintenanceRequest #163012, which contains all the required KDE packages for the newer release 4.10.2. I decided to push this maintenance request due to another bug that was raised (bnc#813519). I know that the ChangeLog might not be full up to standard, but as indicated I wasn't really planning to do this until the above bug was raised. If this works, then we will provide a better changelog for the next update to 4.10.3 (Which would ship beginning of May).
