[Bug 335850] New: Screen Resolution shows wrong refresh rate and doesn' t show available rates
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=335850 Summary: Screen Resolution shows wrong refresh rate and doesn't show available rates Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 3rd Party Driver AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: UweGalle@gmx.de QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com Found By: --- I have an IBM G78 Monitor for my server as described here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-4MBTHP.html hwinfo --monitor shows that the resolution is 800x600 and the refresh rate is 75 Hz: 26: None 00.0: 10000 Monitor [Created at fb.71] Unique ID: rdCR.EY_qmtb9YY0 Hardware Class: monitor Model: "Generic Monitor" Vendor: "Generic" Device: "Monitor" Resolution: 800x600@75Hz Driver Info #0: Max. Resolution: 800x600 Vert. Sync Range: 50-90 Hz Hor. Sync Range: 31-48 kHz Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown This refresh rate isn't enough for a flicker-free display. The IBM support page shows that there is also the refresh rate 85 Hz available for the resolution 800x600. I expected to see the current resolution in the Control Center Tool "Screen Resolution". But Screen Resolution shows me 91 Hz as the current refresh rate what is wrong according to hwinfo. Furthermore, I expected to see all available refresh rates for the current resolution. According to the IBM documentation these resolutions are 75 Hz and 85 Hz. But it is not possible to see and therefore to select these resolutions. This should be a bug. Note that hwinfo --monitor needed 40 seconds for the step bios.4.3: ddc.info. Perhaps there is a problem here. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Essentially it means the monitor could not be detected. This happens in some cases and mainly depends on the graphics card BIOS. Sorry, there is nothing I can do. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
