[Bug 920156] New: radvd v2.2.2 doesn't appear to work, and older version does
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=920156 Bug ID: 920156 Summary: radvd v2.2.2 doesn't appear to work, and older version does Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: 13.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: per@computer.org QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I have upgraded a firewall/router to 13.2, with a new radvd v2.2.2. I see router advertisement, neighbour solicitations etc go in and out, but ipv6 clients never acquire an address. I reverted to the radvd from 13.1, version 1.9.rc1_git201206030100-5.1.2 which works fine. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

you could capture full packets with tcpdump -s 0 -w /tmp/foo.pcap -epni eth0
to look at them with wireshark and compare the details of working and broken advertisements.
I'm not exactly an IPv6 wizard, but this is what I see: in the working situation, the router advertisement contains 3 ICMPv6 options: "Prefix Information", "Unknown" and "Source link-layer address". In the non-working situation, I see 3 options listed: "Prefix Information", "Unknown" and <blank> - examining the latter, it reports "invalid option length = 0". I'll attach both tcpdumps in a minute. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I'm almost sure this is fixed by the upstream patch 4881d4d670e269d55b3953eae12f61893a77145d that fixes the calculation of the RDNSS option length.
Can you please test with a test package containing this fix, available here: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/jbohac:/branches:/openSUSE:/ 13.2:/Update/standard/x86_64/radvd-2.2-2.3.1.x86_64.rpm ?
I installed the 32bit version, works fine, thanks! Personally I don't need an update, we've only got one box with this. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
