its strange, if I run DISPLAY=:0 xterm very early while yast starts, shift lock is not enabled if I run the xterm when the beta dialog is displayed, all keys are already upper case. Looks like YaST switches to upper case - for whatever reasons. Reassigning.

Of course you get a Xserver reset, when you replace icewm with /usr/bin/true. And if you enable icewm again, does this option still help? If yes, I would go for this workaround, since 1) It would be *very* hard to fix this isssue in the Xserver 2) This option is only required during installation. Afterwards Xserver resets no longer happen.
