[Bug 603508] New: Problem with udev rules when using inputattach (input-utils package) - no persistent symbolic link created, no 60-persistent-input.rules
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=603508 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=603508#c0 Summary: Problem with udev rules when using inputattach (input-utils package) - no persistent symbolic link created, no 60-persistent-input.rules Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: peter@petergeoghegan.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.4) Gecko/20091016 SUSE/3.5.4-1.1.2 Firefox/3.5.4 I use Opensuse with serial touchscreens by Elo, using Vojtech Pavlik's inputattach. He is a suse employee. I run it in this way: inputattach -elo /dev/ttyS4 & On opensuse 11.1, this creates a persistent symbolic link to the kernel device node, in /dev/input/by-path, which is typically named -serio1-event- or similar. On Opensuse 11.2, I no longer get my persistent symbolic link. I noticed that /etc/udev/rules.d/ lacked a 60-persistent-input.rules. I copied it from /lib/udev/rules.d/ . However, the symbolic link would still not appear. I had to copy the suse 11.1 60-persistent-input.rules to my opensuse 11.2 system before the persistent symbolic link re-appeared. How advisable is this practice? I suspect that in general it is not at all advisable. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. run inputattach as described 2. observe that a persistent symbolic link is not created Actual Results: A persistent symbolic link is not created Expected Results: A persistent symbolic link should be created by udev -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
