[Bug 227380] New: vsftpd fails to run due to vsftpd.conf being in wrong place.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227380 Summary: vsftpd fails to run due to vsftpd.conf being in wrong place. Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: pflodin@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found in 10.2. To replicate: 1. Install and activate vsftpd. 2. It should run as an anonymous FTP server without making any config changes. So connect using ftp client. Actual Result: #ftp 192.168.0.10 Connected to 192.168.0.10. 500 OOPS: could not bind listening IPv4 socket The issue is that vsftpd expects that the config file is at: /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf But it is at: /etc/vsftpd.conf Moving the file fixes the issue: # ftp 192.168.0.10 Connected to 192.168.0.10. 220 (vsFTPd 2.0.5) Name (192.168.0.10:peter): -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227380 ------- Comment #2 from wharms@bfs.de 2007-01-19 05:48 MST ------- I had the same problem with 10.2 and 10.1 (X86-64) (vsftpd-2.0.4-17) the ftpd was started via xinetd not cmd-line. the rpm installs clearly /etc/vsftpd.conf the same problem was found in fedora: http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/archive/index.php/t-18451.html note: i did not change the product entry in the bug description because is was not sure if the bug would count exclusive for 10.1/10.2 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
