[Bug 903556] New: plasma-addons breaks IBus user interface (tray icon, lookup table)

http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=903556 Bug ID: 903556 Summary: plasma-addons breaks IBus user interface (tray icon, lookup table) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: 13.2 RC 1 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace Assignee: kde-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: ftake@geeko.jp QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: ---
From 4.14.2, plasma-addons provides kimpanel widget. It replaces the existing system tray interface of ibus (ibus-ui-gtk3). However, the addon stops ibus-ui-gtk3 even on desktop sessions other than KDE.
Moreover, since kimpanel is not placed on any panel by default, no interface of ibus is available until users manually add the widget on KDE. Why such change was done after RC1 was released? https://build.opensuse.org/package/rdiff/openSUSE:13.2/plasma-addons?linkrev... Workaround 1: split kimpanel into a subpackage and do not install it Workadound 2: <= If there is no other idea, I will take this. explicitly specify ibus-ui-gtk3 as a panel program in /etc/X11/xim.d/ibus and make it customizable by a variable like IBUS_PANEL -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

As far as I read code of IBus, it does not allow installing multiple panel components. Anyway, since this is important problem for Japanese users, I want to fix this as soon as possible. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
