[Bug 340162] New: VLC fullscreen video is only 1024x768 size ( on a 1400x1050 screen) and appears in the upper left corner, when using the 'intel' X.org driver
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=340162 Summary: VLC fullscreen video is only 1024x768 size (on a 1400x1050 screen) and appears in the upper left corner, when using the 'intel' X.org driver Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: nice@titanic.nyme.hu QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Other When I use the vlc player and switch to full screen mode, the "full screen" video seems to be maximized az 1024x768 (my sceen size is actually 1400x1050) and appears in the upper left corner. Mplayer and Kaffeine can switch to real fullscreen. The problem occurs if I am using the "intel" driver of X.org. The "i810" driver works OK. VLC's fullscreen mode also works correctly when I use Xgl over X.org with "intel" driver (although xvideo is not hardvare accelerated in that case (By the way don't anybody know when any of the "intel" and "i810" will support pbuffers and/or FBO?)) I run 32bin openSUSE 10.3 on a Compq nc6320 laptop, which incorporates an Intel 945GM video chip. I will attach my xorg.conf (generated by SaX2), a snapshot of my screen, and an strace output of starting vlc in fullscreen mode. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I would suggest that you go with "xrandr --auto". Making sure nothing is connected to your external VGA connector.
You can reenable the external output again (if you need projector support) >with "xrandr --auto" again. .. after having connected the projector.
