[Bug 544301] New: coretemp module not loaded automatically
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=544301 Summary: coretemp module not loaded automatically Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 8 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: joe@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- On my Core2 Quad the coretemp module is not loaded automatically. Especially as we do have tools in userland like KDE's temperature plasma widget that don't work without the sensor enabled we should IMO load this module automatically, or at least make those tools trigger the module to load. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I don't know if CPU-based kernel module aliases exist. If they do then implementing this should be simple enough. If not, we will have to add support for such aliases first. Alternatively this could be implemented in user-space, but then we'd have to keep the list of supported CPU modules maintained in parallel, which is no good. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It should be upstream in the next kernel (3.4.) This isn't a trivial change so it won't be backported, but future versions of openSUSE will have it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
