Some details. I have 2 primary partitions on my SATA HDD: 1. Active(boot partition) with NTLDR (of Windows XP x64; the OS itself is installed in a logical partition). 2. Windows XP 32-bit system partition. This dual boot system worked fine. Recently I decided to install SUSE 10.2 as the third OS (I allocated 3 logical partitions for it). I chose default boot loader(GRUB) to be installed in SUSE's boot partition, not in MBR (to load it with NTLDR). The installation went fine until the first reboot. Only GRUB's command shell appeared. ROOT command reported incorrect partition(one of NTFS Windows partitions). It seems that GRUB could not find its conf file. As I am a complete newbie in Linux, I simply decided to reinstall SUSE and selected LILO as boot loader (which I also ordered to be installed to SUSE's boot partition). This time all went fine and I got bootable SUSE finally. Some time later I run Yast boot loader configuration tool. I did no changes, just looked and pressed OK. And the next reboot failed - LILO spawned a bunch of '99' and halted!
