[Bug 1208659] New: Dist-upgrade made taskbar/init menu disappear
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1208659 Bug ID: 1208659 Summary: Dist-upgrade made taskbar/init menu disappear Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Workspace (Plasma) Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: rosuna@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: Customer Blocker: --- I was running the snapshot from Feb 10th. When applying the snapshot from Feb 13th (or 14th, unsure), I had problems with nvidia drivers (see bug #1208645 ), as there might be a regression. In addition, the "init bar", "menu bar", "task bar", or whatever it should be called, has disappeared from my user. I've worked around the problem with nvidia by manually installing the previous version, and now all my screens are working fine, however the problem with that bar in the bottom having disappear is still there. I've created a new test user and logged it with it, the bar exists. I've tried to kill the plasmasession and run it again, but that did not change anything (other than I think it is crashing, because the background image did not come back). I have too many configurations to create a new .config directory and would like to avoid this. Rolling back to my btrfs snapshot I created previously fixes everything. Please let me know which logs would be useful to debug this. Thanks! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Can you get a backtrace?
This might be caused by the Plasma 5.27 update and might even be fixed with 5.27.1 already.

Not much luck either with 5.27.1 which was released a while ago. Can you please guide me to get you the backtrace? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Doesn't look like plasma crashed. Try this please: kquitapp5 plasmashell && old ~/.config/{plasmashellrc,*appletsrc} && plasmashell& -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

That worked, thanks a lot! Is it something to worry about? Because every time I rolled back to the previous snapshot before the "zypper dup", the bar was there and every time I patched it disappeared. Anyway the solution was easy. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

debuginfo (in case it's needed) uploaded here: https://ziu.nue.suse.com/Bug1208659/
That's what the system downloaded as debuginfo, it's just what the -debuginfo RPMs contain.

Can you attach the old config? There's something in there which the old plasma accepted but the new one doesn't.
Sure, I'll upload the files in a moment. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
