[Bug 581123] New: pci card that provides parallel port not working correctly in openSUSE 11.2
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=581123 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=581123#c0 Summary: pci card that provides parallel port not working correctly in openSUSE 11.2 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: don.raboud@ualberta.ca QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.0) Gecko/20100115 SUSE/3.6.0-1.2 Firefox/3.6 I have an pci card from (ST Lab) that provides a parallel port so I can use my printer. This has not worked with openSUSE 11.2. The card is detected and the kernel module parport_pc is loaded. The printer lights up and does things, but usually not what I want it to do. The command, as root, echo -en "\rHello\r\f" >/dev/lp0 cause lights to blink, but no paper to be printed or ejected. This exact same combination of hardware works fine on the same computer when I boot into 11.0. I think this is a bug, since it worked automatically in 11.0 - just install the card and power on - no special settings required. The relevant section of "hwinfo --pci" is included below. I'll be happy to provide whatever other information may be required. 32: PCI 106.0: 0780 Communication controller [Created at pci.318] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_9710_9805 Unique ID: zsAr.eu+uqI3Bbp6 Parent ID: H0_h.8LoPsVNGJbF SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:06.0/0000:01:06.0 SysFS BusID: 0000:01:06.0 Hardware Class: unknown Model: "NetMos PCI 1 port parallel adapter" Vendor: pci 0x9710 "NetMos Technology" Device: pci 0x9805 "PCI 1 port parallel adapter" SubVendor: pci 0x1000 "LSI Logic / Symbios Logic" SubDevice: pci 0x0010 Revision: 0x01 Driver: "parport_pc" Driver Modules: "parport_pc", "parport_pc" I/O Ports: 0xac00-0xac07 (rw) I/O Ports: 0xa800-0xa807 (rw) I/O Ports: 0xa400-0xa407 (rw) I/O Ports: 0xa000-0xa007 (rw) I/O Ports: 0x9c00-0x9c07 (rw) I/O Ports: 0x9800-0x980f (rw) IRQ: 16 (452511 events) Module Alias: "pci:v00009710d00009805sv00001000sd00000010bc07sc80i00" Driver Info #0: Driver Status: parport_pc is active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe parport_pc" Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no, active=unknown Attached to: #19 (PCI bridge) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
