[Bug 973882] New: Please remove Wine mime associations
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=973882 Bug ID: 973882 Summary: Please remove Wine mime associations Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 Applications Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: sb56637@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Hello, Every time I install Wine on a fresh openSUSE system it takes over my default mime program associations for many common things like images and text files. There is no reason I would ever want to open a text file with Wine's Notepad, and nobody would ever want to open a JPG or PNG image in Wine's Internet Explorer. Please remove these useless mime associations, and only leave the sensible ones like .EXE and .MSI file associations. Thanks a lot! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

in which tool are the wine based mimetypes prefered over the system ones?
At the very least Firefox does. If you download a text file and then click to open it from within Firefox, it will open Wine Notepad instead. Some Wine apps also take over the default file associations, though I don't quite remember which ones (long since changed them). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
