[Bug 665969] New: gdb should be able to use a global gdbinit file
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=665969 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=665969#c0 Summary: gdb should be able to use a global gdbinit file Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Development AssignedTo: pth@novell.com ReportedBy: james.faulkner@yale.edu QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/8.0.552.237 Safari/534.10 We use opensuse for introductory programming courses. Messages like "zypper install -C debuginfo(build-id)=8626ba66937eea83fbe594766f26ecd26bc0ab0d" that gdb spits out can be distracting for beginner programmers. I'd like to set this globally: set build-id-verbose 0 however, opensuse does not provide a global gdbinit file that would allow me to do this. Other distributions, such as Fedora and Arch, patch gdb to allow a global gdbinit file, such as /etc/gdb/gdbinit. Opensuse's gdb should be able to use a global gdbinit file.
