[Bug 386426] New: Support root on encrypted filesystem (Feature No: 302191)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=386426 Summary: Support root on encrypted filesystem (Feature No: 302191) Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bitdealer@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- According to http://en.opensuse.org/Testing:Features_11.0#Support_root_on_encrypted_files... openSUSE 11.0 finally supports installation with everything encrypted except /boot so one doesn't have to go the troublesome way described at http://en.opensuse.org/Encrypted_Root_File_System . Unfortunately this still doesn't work - as in Yast complains, like it does in pre 11.0 versions, that installing / encrypted isn't possible. Especially for laptop users this subject is very important - also if you keep the world wide decrease of privacy protection in mind. Since all the needed functionality, except the installation, is already there and working it shouldn't be too hard to implement and a plus for the openSUSE distribution which brings it on feature parity with most of its competition (strictly speaking about this subject). So it would be great if this finally makes it in with 11.0. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

There is another feature to support that in Yast - for future products.
