[Bug 558901] New: Banshee 1.5.1 does not exit gracefully unless Media > Quit is used instead of [X]
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=558901 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=558901#c0 Summary: Banshee 1.5.1 does not exit gracefully unless Media > Quit is used instead of [X] Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Banshee AssignedTo: abockover@novell.com ReportedBy: windows2linux@zoho.com QAContact: abockover@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091107 Firefox/3.5.5 (Swiftfox) Operating system: openSUSE 11.2 i586 (fresh installation) using GNOME 2.28 Kernel: 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop Banshee: banshee-1-1.5.1-1.1.4.i586 (Oss repository) For some reason, Banshee 1.5.1 on openSUSE 11.2 does not exit gracefully, and it will even freeze (sometimes, not always) when trying to exit the application by pressing the X button in the upper-right corner of the window. It will dump a bunch of output to the terminal with a final message that reads: "Got a SIGSEGV while executing native code. This usually indicates a fatal error in the mono runtime or one of the native libraries used by your application." This never happens when exiting from Media > Quit. Using the Media > Quit method does not randomly freeze up the application, either. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Launch Banshee from a terminal (banshee-1) 2. Go to Media > Quit 3. View output in the terminal (clean, no errors) 3. Launch Banshee from a terminal (banshee-1) 4. Click on the X in the upper-right corner 5. View output in the terminal (lots of verbose information and an error message) Actual Results: The terminal will output a bunch of cryptic messages, with a final message that reads: "Got a SIGSEGV while executing native code. This usually indicates a fatal error in the mono runtime or one of the native libraries used by your application." Sometimes Banshee will freeze and a Force-Quit is required to close it. This does not appear to be the case when exiting via Media > Quit Expected Results: Banshee should simply close gracefully, regardless of which button is pressed to exit the application. This is a clean installation of openSUSE 11.2 i586 (not an upgrade), and it is using the official repositories (Banshee is installed via the Oss repository). I even removed the Banshee config folders (no music in the library, default settings) but it made no difference. I hope there is an easy solution for this, since Banshee is the default media player for openSUSE GNOME and it should not appear glitchy or unstable compared to its major KDE rival: Amarok. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
