[Bug 425313] New: Calling the YaST module 'proposal has failed
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=425313 Summary: Calling the YaST module 'proposal has failed Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: x86 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mrmazda@ij.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=238968) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=238968) tar.gz of /var/log/YaST2 The bug summary string pops up in a small window on clicking "next" for password for system administrator. I have no idea what causes this problem. The lone PATA HD has >15 partitions. I first tried without hwprobe=-modules.pata, then with, but PATA was found as sda both ways. Then I tried with BrokenModules=ata_piix, which got me the PATA HD as hda, but still the same failure, even when I only selected for mounting a single partition (hda7 as /). Also I was specifying mounting by label, and manual hardware configuration. Hardware is old PIII on i440BX with .5G RAM, sym53cxx (with no powered on devices during installation), G400 video; starting via Grub HTTP from download.opensuse.org. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

BTW: Is the summary correct? "Calling the YaST module 'proposal has failed" The initial description doesn't seem to match the summary.
The summary was taken directly off the installation screen. Sentences between first & last of comment 0 are probably unnecessary and may be misleading. (In reply to comment #4 from Lukas Ocilka)
Hmm, maybe the FACTORY install is just out of sync. It seems to be older than Beta1.
I filed this bug before announcement that http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/ was no longer being sync'd and was being deprecated. IIRC, Beta1 was not yet released at that time but was imminent, and I expected there to be little or no difference to beta1 DVD.
Check if control.xml in the root of the install media/URL contains <execute>proposal</execute> instead of <execute>inst_proposal</execute>, please.
I would think at this point a check would be useless. If new Factory mirror is now fully sync'd I could try to start an install again and see if problem is gone, but I won't want to finish on that machine, as I have reverted its use on the target partition to Cooker. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
