https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=637957 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=637957#c0 Summary: zypper not having rpm read /etc/rpm/macros.* Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: zypp-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jnelson-suse@jamponi.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100723 SUSE/3.6.8-0.1.1 Firefox/3.6.8 The accepted way of having rpm do repackaging and so on is to place a file in /etc/rpm/macros or /etc/rpm/macros.pretty_much_anything and populate the file with these contents: %_repackage_all_erasures 1 %_repackage_dir /var/lib/rpm/rollbacks This used to work. However, with openSUSE 11.3 is doesn't appear to work any more. This appears to be a regression. Sorry, no longer supported. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=637957 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=637957#c2 --- Comment #2 from Jon Nelson <jnelson-suse@jamponi.net> 2010-09-09 12:50:19 UTC --- In that case, shouldn't applications stop shipping files that go in /etc/rpm/ ? On this machine, the following rpms place files in /etc/rpm: gconf2-2.28.1-3.4.x86_64 jpackage-utils-1.7.5-19.1.x86_64 kde4-filesystem-4.5.1-113.1.x86_64 kernel-devel-2.6.34.4-0.1.1.noarch mkinitrd-2.6.0-2.3.x86_64 perl-5.12.1-2.1.1.x86_64 python-base-2.6.5-2.14.x86_64 ruby-1.8.7.p249-7.1.x86_64 tcl-8.5.8-4.53.x86_64 update-desktop-files-11.3-1.2.noarch -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It still reads /etc/rpm, the it's the repackaging code that is gone. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=637957 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=637957#c4 --- Comment #4 from Jon Nelson <jnelson-suse@jamponi.net> 2010-09-09 13:32:06 UTC --- Aha! OK, then. That is a whole 'nuther ball of wax. That sucks, though, as repackaging was (potentially) extremely useful. Honestly, I wish I had it yesterday when the new kernel update made one of the four machines unbootable. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
