[Bug 396102] New: Yast print module selects wrong printer for test page
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=396102 Summary: Yast print module selects wrong printer for test page Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: RC 1 Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: fwheeler_1@yahoo.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Beta-Customer I installed RC1 from the KDE Live CD. Used Yast to install three HP printers (networked printers that are printed to directly using their IP number and port 9100). Immediately after installing each one, I printed a test page, which printed correctly from each of the newly installed printer. After accepting the changes, Yast closed normally. I needed to recheck something on one of the printers, so I started the Yast printer module again. All printers appeared correctly. However, no matter which of the 3 printers I highlighted then selected print test page, the test page always came out of the same printer (the last in the list given by Yast). Also, the dialog box that comes up after that to confirm the test page was printed always showed the print command for the third printer, regardless of which printer was originally selected. --Fw -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It's connected to a WindowsXP PC and the connection from the SuSE to the Windows PC works fine. But I forgot to choose the printer model. So I started YaST again and tried to reconfigure my printer. All seemed well, but after closing YaST, by clicking the close button YaST forgot all the changes I made (don't know the right name, using the german version where it's named "Beenden" - I'm shure I didn't press cancel or the "close windows"-cross at the upper right of the window). The only way to install the printer was, to delete and readd the printer. And enter the correct configuration directly when adding the printer. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Some times it's automatically commented out. (like this smb://****) The times it wasn't commented out, I did that job and replaced it with "smb://-----:-----" I think passwords should not be stored in logs. If people post logs, like here, this behavior can be quite dangerous! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It seems not ready for prime time. I had to remove 'CORP' by hand from OKI DATA CORP to find the driver 'Okidata ML-321 Turbo CUPS+...' The most general search button tried to find all drivers and evidently crashed. This was not a problem in the previous version. When I try to add an 'HP Color LaserJet 2605 dn' network printer (pinging it first to be sure it is available) I get the error 'Error failed to add queue hplaserjet 2605' so I am not sure if the bug is fixed or not. Should this be taken up under another Bug #? Also the test page to the Okidata generates no output which was also true of the previous yast2-printer. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
