Each driver has a 'max_sectors' setting, which controls the number of sectors (ie 512 byte-block) can be transferred in one SCSI command. This is (normally) set to 1024, ie the driver is allowed to transfer up to 512kB in one command. When setting the blocksize to something larger than this the driver will bail out.
