http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=624989 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=624989#c0 Summary: KDE4 launch takes a lot time Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: i.kostik.n@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=377957) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=377957) 2 .xsession-errors files received at the KDE startup from login screen and from startx command User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; ru; rv:1.9.2.7) Gecko/20100714 SUSE/3.6.7-1.2 Firefox/3.6.7 KDE start takes about 35-40 seconds from login screen (kdm) till desktop (clean OpenSUSE11.3 x86_64 install). When I choose console login and start KDE with "startx" command, KDE starts pretty fast. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot system 2. Select user 3. Try to start KDE Actual Results: It takes 35-40 sec from login screen to desktop. KDE startup progress bar freezes for 15 sec during login. Expected Results: Normal start without freezes. When KDE starts from login screen (kdm) there is error in xsession-errors file, which is not present when KDE starts with "startx" command from console login: -- kded(2752): Communication problem with "kded" , it probably crashed. Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken." If I log out, then log in again there is no delay. Disable powerdevil in KDE services manager and the delay goes away. If powerdevil is disabled and I go to the services manager and start powerdevil, the services manager UI is unresponsive for about 25 seconds, and sometimes displays an error about the application not responding. When I start powerdevil like this, I get some messages in .xsession-errors, I'm creating an attachment to show these. I do not have any messages saying "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" in .xsession-errors like the reporter. If I stop/start powerdevil again, there is no delay, or if I've booted with powerdevil enabled and then stop/start powerdevil, no delay. Several other users at http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-help-here/install-boot-login/442682-1... and in the #suse IRC have reported the same problem and the same workaround of disabling powerdevil. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
