[Bug 225224] New: YaST loop with "Verifying domain membership..." popup
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=225224 Summary: YaST loop with "Verifying domain membership..." popup Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: RC 4 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: jsuchome@novell.com ReportedBy: jsuchome@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com CC: aj@novell.com, samba-maintainers@SuSE.de yast2-samba-client: when I want to change domain, yast tries to check if the new domain is not Active Directory one. Last check is the call "net ads lookup -S $server", where $server is suspected AD domain controller. When this call succeeds, YaST returns the $server as real AD controller. This worked until now, but in RC4, "net ads lookup -S $server" asks for root's password - and is expecting it on stdin. This is not known to YaST so user can only watch "Verifying domain membership..." popup forever (unless he is able to find "root's password:" prompt on console). Workaround (or correct solution?) is using " -U%" in the net call done by YaST. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Our Samba 3.023d _asks_ for a password in this use case. Therefore: Do you like to have this fixed in 10.2 GA, as an update for 10.2 after GA, or should we ignore it for 10.2. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=225224 ------- Comment #7 from jsuchome@novell.com 2006-12-01 06:49 MST ------- But the YaST issue is fixed with the patch from comment #0, right? So you are ask ing for fixing samba package(s), to prevent the behaviour also from other tools, right? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
