http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=996614 Bug ID: 996614 Summary: No signal on HDMI output after upgrade openSUSE Tumbleweed on RaspberryPi Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Upgrade Problems Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: petr.m@seznam.cz QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- I have no signal on HDMI output after upgrade openSUSE Tumbleweed on my RaspberryPi. I installed http://download.opensuse.org/ports/armv6hl/tumbleweed/images/ openSUSE-Tumbleweed-ARM-JeOS-raspberrypi.armv6l-2016.06.12-Build2.10.raw.xz after that i updated from http://download.opensuse.org/ports/armv6hl/tumbleweed/ by "zypper dup" -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yes, the image rebooted okay before updating. I did not tweak mount points, i did not play with symlinks. I can see U-Boot output after that I can see penguin picture for a short time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

So, it's not a boot problem but a vc4 graphics problem. Do you have raspberrypi-firmware-extra installed? It has some binaries formerly part of raspberrypi-firmware package. Are you using /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-fbdev.conf? Section "Device" Identifier "fb gfx" Driver "fbdev" Option "fb" "/dev/fb0" EndSection If so, can you try the following instead? (copied from raspberrypi3_aarch64) Section "Device" Identifier "kms gfx" Driver "modesetting" Option "AccelMethod" "none" EndSection -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Could you please check /var/log/zypp/history and tell us which packages were updated during that zypper dup? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=996614 http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=996614#c11 --- Comment #11 from Max Staudt <mstaudt@suse.com> --- Hmm, seems like both the kernel and the firmware have been updated... do you still have an old kernel and/or firmware laying around that you can try? As for the firmware, you can also get previous "start.elf" blobs from here: https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/tree/master/boot AFAIK the RPi 1 does not use the 'vc4' KMS driver, so video should be under firmware control. I cannot check this right now as I don't have the hardware on hand. I am afraid I won't be able to look deeper into this issue too soon. In the meantime, maybe a firmware/kernel update fixes the issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
